On Sunday 3rd June we accompanied hymns in the Lacock Church during the special Jubilee service, as well as playing a few more entertaining pieces whilst the congregation (and tourists) enjoyed tea and biscuits. It was rather unusual for us to play with singers (other than carols) but went splendidly – with only a slight discrepancy…

Kington St Michael Fete
In the grounds of Kington Manor, a huge array of traditional and not so traditional stalls and activities drew in people for miles around for the village fete. We played two sets, conducted excellently by our very own tenor horn player, Jane. A particularly apt combination was the Pirates of the Caribbean medley during the tortoise’s…
John Coles Park
Bandstand season has commenced, with our band playing the first 2012 event at John Coles Park! Although a little chilly, the sun shone on occasion during our two-set performance at the Chippenham bandstand, much to the delight of the audience (and other park-goers!) Our repertoire included swing, theme tunes and marches; matching the diversity of attendees. Some were pleasantly…
Cheque Presentation to the Alzheimer’s Society
Chippenham Town Band were pleased to support the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society with a donation from the Band’s Christmas street collections. The presentation was made during a session of Singing for the Brain at the Sheldon Road Methodist Church when Amanda and Alan joined in with the musical merriment. Adrian Williams (fundraiser for…
Masquerade Birthday Party
This was a rather unusual, private event for the band – a birthday party for one of the band members! Hence the non-uniform attire. The event was hosted in The Cause, Chippenham – brilliant space for the overall 61 attendees and highly convenient for the band as we rehearse there! Some band members wore the most fantastic…
Second (and last) Carolling Weekend
On Saturday we joined a heroic troop of singers and the Mayor; we stood beneath the Buttercross with the singers spread out in a big arc towards the lit Christmas tree. Many carols were sung until we were all Hark, Ding-Dong and Jingle Bell’d out. It had been a rather chilly evening, all in all!…
[Private Event] West End Club
We played various Christmas tunes and carols – with lots of participation from the entire audience. There was a very large turn out by the band, including Alan joining our ranks as Jane conducted. There was even a novel way of singing 12 Days of Christmas: each table had its’ own props according to which…
First Carolling Weekend
On Saturday we withstood the cold (luckily no wind) outside the Neeld Hall on the High Street for over two hours of jolly carols, amidst the market stalls. Many shoppers passed by, and (from the sounds of the tub) donated generously towards our charity of the season: Alzheimer’s Society.
[Private Event] Gateway Club
Smiles were abundant this evening, as jolly tunes filled the school hall. Eager participants helped conduct, and choristers-in-training sang along to some carols of their choice. Help was had for Andrew the drummer to count in one of the marches, and many dancers took to the floor for some of the tunes. The choreography for…
Lacock Fayre
After a challenging journey despite the local nature of the event (very circuitous route to parking cars;) a large band contingent made their way to the front of the school where we played two long sets of music. We actually had pretty good weather and a varied audience – including lots of dog walkers! Bargains…
